Chelsea are yet to start their 2026-27 season but Trevoh Chalobah’s campaign has got underway after starting and finishing Como’s first game of the season – a 1-1 draw with Udinese.
After completing a £30m move to the Italian outfit, Chalobah has impressed Como fans with impressive displays against Liverpool and Arsenal during pre-season. On Saturday, he started for Cesc Fabregas.
Where will Chelsea finish in the Premier League in 2026/27?
Let's hear how you think Xabi Alonso will get on this season…
While it was a disappointing result against a side Como will have expected to have beaten, it was still a point away from home in the top flight of Italian football. Chalobah, though, earned enormous praise.
Another example of Chelsea selling an academy product, the wealth of talent at centre-back forced the Blues to cash in with Maxence Lacroix arriving. Chalobah now has a point to prove to his boyhood club.

Italian media stunned by ‘remarkable’ Chalobah debut
Udinese had taken the lead just before the half-hour mark, only for Como striker Anastasios Douvikas to net an equaliser. But Chalobah was arguably Como’s best player and Italian media have had their say.

Especially, with Chalobah playing a huge hand in Douvikas’ goal, with his initial header only parried to Como’s striker. TuttoMercatoWeb heaped praise on his “leadership” and his “remarkable” leap.
“Chalobah 6.5 – Impressive, as if it weren’t his official debut against Como. He directs the work between defense and midfield with his leadership, and sets up Douvikas’ equalizer with a remarkable leap.”
ComoZero continued the trend of praising Chaloah, who also impressed some onlooking Chelsea fans on Saturday evening. They believe Chalobah is already the best defender that Fabregas has at his disposal.

“Chalobah 7: The best player in the defensive line. He makes a couple of crucial tackles and is confident in every save. Skillful in possession, he even helped score the equalizer with his header. A top scorer.”
The stats prove Trevoh Chalobah was among Como’s best players
A stunning debut from Chalobah then, who clearly needed a change of scenery – he’s certainly got it in Como. FotMob handed the England star a rating of 7.8, fourth-best on the pitch, Como’s second-best.
He enjoyed 98 touches, the second-most on the pitch and completing 75 of his 81 passes at a rate of 93%. Two of those 81 passes were into the final third, helping Como create from the defensive line.

Defensively, Chalobah was miles ahead. He produced 12 defensive contributions, four more than the next-best player. They included two tackles, two interceptions, and six clearances – again, the most.
He won six of 10 duels and even enjoyed a successful dribble from the back line. A brilliant start for the Chelsea academy graduate, as he embarks on a personal mission to prove Chelsea were wrong to sell.
