Enzo Maresca is set to get a new winger at Man City

Manchester City are advancing towards a deal to sign Allan Elias, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Enzo Maresca’s side are set to pay far less than the Palmeiras winger’s release clause to bring him in.

Enzo Maresca’s side have made signing a new winger a top priority after Tottenham agreed an £85million deal to sign Savinho, and Allan has emerged as their top replacement target.

TEAMtalk revealed in an update on Thursday that Man City were progressing over a deal with Palmeiras for Allan.

Crucially, we reported that despite him having a €100million (£85.6m / $116.8m) release clause, Man City are confident of agreeing a deal for around €40million (£34.2m / $46.7m).

Well-known transfer reporter, Romano, has now confirmed just that.

“Understand Manchester City are now closing in on Allan deal from Palmeiras!” Romano posted on X.

“Progress made in talks last night with Palmeiras for fee in the region of €40m.”

Man City’s Allan deal could prove to be great business

One of the sticking points in Man City’s negotiations with Palmeiras has been that the Brazilian club have been keen to keep Allan until January.

However, the Cityzens need a new winger immediately due to Savinho’s exit, and it appears they’ve been able to convince Palmeiras to part ways with Allan now.

Allan, a 22-year-old right-winger, is considered one of the most exciting players in South America. He joined Palmeiras in January last year and has notched nine goals and 11 assists in 95 appearances for the club so far.

The youngster is effective at cutting in on his left foot from the right flank, which will balance nicely with Man City’s Jeremy Doku who does the same from the left on his right foot on the opposite wing.

Allan can also play as an attacking midfielder, and that versatility is something that appeals to Maresca and Co.

Analysts have also noted the Brazilian’s relentless work rate and defensive abilities, having also played as a wing-back, so Allan can contribute at both ends of the pitch.

Barring any dramatic twists, Man City look set to make Allan their next big signing. A £34.2m fee would represent good business after the big-money sale of Savinho to Tottenham, too.
