Haaland is coming off a 38-goal season in all competitions for City.

He also became a household name at this summer's World Cup where he netted seven goals in five games for Norway.

Haaland has now posted pictures on his Instagram where he has opted for a new buzz cut.

The 26-year-old has grown out his hair over many years, having previously sported a shorter style during the early part of his career.

Ahead of the World Cup, he even revealed a piece of advice from Zlatan Ibrahimovic that he followed.

Haaland recalled: “Zlatan told me – never cut your hair because the strength is in the hair.”

It appears he has had a change of heart, however, with the decision to shave it all off.

Maresca also had the job of appointing a new City captain following Bernardo Silva's exit to Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Ruben Dias skippered the club against Arsenal and will most likely be the permanent choice.

Haaland was one of the leading candidates, but Maresca ruled him out straight away.

The former Chelsea boss said: "Erling was one of the first to send a message when I joined the club.

“At Leicester and Chelsea, I had a rule that when we scored, the captain had to come to the bench not to celebrate for instructions.

“But if he scores, then he can celebrate.

“So if Erling is the captain, we have a problem. F****** hell, can you imagine?”

At City, he has 162 goals in 199 games, including 112 in the Premier League.

He helped them to a famous treble in the 2022/23 season and is already a double Premier League winner.
