Erling Haaland has revealed a staggering new haircut ahead of Manchester City's opening Premier League fixture against Bournemouth. Gone are his long blond locks and in their place is a fresh, close cut.

The Norway star posted two updates on Instagram to celebrate his new do, saying: "Short hair, don’t care" and "New season, new trim."

Haaland shared a selection of images as he got his hair cut and also offered the big reveal on his finished look. There a may have been some concern over what Haaland had initially asked the barber for as he showed off some curtains halfway through the cut.

But the result was a clean cut that will ensure Haaland no longer needs to tie his hair back for matches. Manchester City were in the forward's comments with a simple "Nice", while former Chelsea star John Terry even liked the post.

Halaand has also released a YouTube video documenting the process. At the beginning, he said: "This beautiful blond hair, time to let it go.

"I was thinking about doing it straight after the World Cup but it was so busy so I didn't do it. The season starts now so it's time to get a fresh start and everything.

"The only thing is Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) told me to 'never cut your hair because your strength is in your hair'. I'm a bit nervous. I want a buzz cut like I've been in the military.

Among the first to see Haaland's new look was Oasis star Noel Gallagher. The City forward called Gallagher on facetime and the musician couldn't help but laugh.

"No way. Yes mate, when have you got that done? You look about 17 years old. Change is good, I won't tell anyone."

Jack Grealish was next up and also started with a laugh. "Nah. You look about 10 years old. Oh my. I can't stop looking at the front of your head, I swear. I love it."

Haaland then called Ibrahimovic. The Swede was less impressed. "That the f** did you do? You lost a bet or what? Oh my god, block me and erase my number. My wife says you are crazy."

Former City boss Pep Guardiola was even disturbed from watching Tottenham vs Brentford. "No way," he said.

"You're lucky you have hair, I'd love to have it. Look if you don't like it, it will grow out."

After having his hair chopped on Saturday, Haaland will take to the pitch against Bournemouth as Enzo Maresca takes charge of City in the Premier League for the first time. Haaland and co welcome the Cherries to the Etihad Stadium, looking to get their season off to a positive start.
