Everton have reportedly held further talks with Arsenal over Gabriel Jesus as David Moyes considers adding another forward before the transfer deadline.
The interest itself is well established. Everton and Ipswich were reported earlier this week to have contacted Arsenal about the availability of Jesus, with Sky Sports subsequently carrying those enquiries in its transfer coverage.
A fresh claim on Sunday suggests Everton have now returned to the conversation.
KrrishFT reports that discussions between the clubs have taken place in recent hours, although talks are described as being at an early stage.
The report puts Arsenal’s valuation at around £20m, while claiming Everton are looking at a package worth between £12m and £15m.
Those latter details have not yet been independently corroborated by a major source.
Everton interest in Jesus continues
Arsenal’s asking price is broadly consistent with previous reporting.
The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and valuations of around £18m-£20m have been reported this summer.
Sunday’s report also claims there has been no contact between Everton and Jesus over personal terms at this stage. That is worth stressing: even if the latest club-to-club discussions are accurate, there is nothing yet to suggest a deal is close.
Jesus was left out of Arsenal’s opening Premier League game against Coventry amid continuing uncertainty over his future.
Everton’s interest nevertheless appears to have survived their opening-day win over Crystal Palace. Thierno Barry scored in the 2-0 victory, but Moyes still has time to alter his attacking options before the window closes.
For now, Jesus remains one to watch rather than a transfer moving towards completion.
