Omar Marmoush had been exploring a potential departure from the Etihad Stadium following the arrival of Enzo Maresca as manager earlier this summer - in the backdrop of a difficult 2025/26 season that saw him struggle for consistent minutes and opportunities under Pep Guardiola.
The 27-year-old had initially joined Manchester City from Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 and in his 18 months at the Etihad Stadium so far, managed to notch 16 goals and provide six assists in 62 appearances across all competitions.
However, amid a period of significant change at the Etihad Stadium, there had appeared doubts over where Omar Marmoush would rank in Enzo Maresca’s attacking pecking order, especially after the January arrival of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
And now, it seems as though the once-impressive Egyptian international is bound for a big internal Premier League transfer, hoping to stake his claim as an undisputed starter under Roberto De Zerbi.
Tottenham and Man City agree Marmoush deal
With Savinho set to complete an £85 million transfer to Tottenham in the coming days, market insider Fabrizio Romano has now reported that the north London club have also agreed to sign Omar Marmoush on an initial loan fmove rom Manchester City for the 2026/27 season.
However, given the widespread suggestions of a permanent switch, it is explained that Tottenham will have the mandatory option of making the signing of the Egyptian international permanent for £50 million in the summer of 2027 - providing certain conditions are met.
Will Man City replace Marmoush?
It is blatantly clear to many supporters that Manchester City have work to do during the final eight days of the 2026 summer transfer window, although the focus from within the club appears to be bolstering their midfield ranks.

Lille and Manchester City have come to an agreement over a transfer for Ayyoub Bouaddi to the Etihad Stadium, it is being reported.
Widespread reporting across the weekend has indicated that the club have finalised an agreement with Lille over the €100 million signing of 18-year-old defensive midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, comprising of an initial €95 million with a further €5 million in add-ons.
Whilst the Morocco international is expected to travel to Manchester on Monday ahead of signing a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, bigger question marks stand over the club's plans when it comes to Omar Marmoush's exit.
There appears to be some clarity over the strategy in replacing Savinho, with Palmeiras' 22-year-old Brazilian winger Allan Elias the preferred solution to the Tottenham-bound winger, although back-up striker targets are yet to have emerged publicly.
