Unai Emery expects Johan Manzambi to be sidelined for another two weeks, while Brian Madjo is also working his way back from a “small injury.”
Tammy Abraham also missed Villa’s opening-day defeat at Brighton, with Emery’s side going down 4-0 at the Amex.
Villa failed to register a shot on target in the game and had just four touches in the opposition box, with no recognised striker in the squad.
Ollie Watkins did not play, with Emery telling supporters to ask the striker’s agent why he was unavailable amid strong interest from Al-Hilal in the final days of the transfer window.
With Arsenal up next at Villa Park on Monday, August 31, Emery will be hoping to field a striker in his starting XI.
“Manzambi is starting to work on the field and maybe he will need two weeks more to join us, more or less,” he said when asked for an injury update.
“Madjo has a small injury and I think he can get progressively better and start training with us as well, but he may need some days more.
“Tammy Abraham as well, he has a small injury and he is going to join us again. Hopefully we have strikers ready to play [soon], but this can happen.”
