Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes both considered by Liverpool
A report in TEAMtalk is now claiming that Reds’ recruiters put SIX names on the list to replace Jones during the summer transfer window.
Former Newcastle pair Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali were under consideration before their moves to Arsenal and Tottenham respectively.
Ex-Toon star Elliot Anderson was also a target before joining Manchester City from Nottingham Forest for a nine-figure sum.

Adam Wharton - who many believe is still on the Reds’ radar this summer - is another name reportedly in the frame but Crystal Palace are determined to keep the England man.
Alex Scott meanwhile is another name reported to have been considered as a Jones replacement - with the player well known to Andoni Iraola owing to their shared days at Bournemouth.
Rounding off the list is Lamine Camara - the gifted Monaco midfielder who looks destined for great things sooner rather than later.

Liverpool opt to stick with Nyoni
Ultimately however it looks as though Liverpool’s key decision-makers saw no value in the market this summer.
They would rather give chances to Nyoni- who is reported in TEAMtalk to have blown Andoni Iraola away in preseason.
With the likes of Anderson and Tonali moving for £100m+ it’s easy to see why trying Nyoni out as an additional option is a move that makes most sense.
