The New Orleans Saints had a rough outing in their second preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams, as they were shut out 34-0. There weren't many positives to take away from the game, and Terron Armstead kept it real when evaluating their performance.
“Yesterday’s Saints game was BAD bad!! Preseason or not, team tired, joint practices, 🤷🏾♂️ we will never make excuses in Nola‼️ I believe in this team, their leaders, and what they’re building! I expect this team to take yesterday personal and do something about it!” Armstead wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Spencer Rattler and Zach Wilson both threw interceptions, and they couldn't get the offense rolling. Defensively, the Saints didn't have an answer for the Rams, and Stetson Bennett got whatever he wanted through the air and with his feet.
Head coach Kellen Moore shared his thoughts on his team's performance, and it didn't seem like he was pleased either.
“Yeah. Just a lack—lack of discipline, lack of detail,” Moore said. “A lot of them are under our control. You know, 12 penalties in a football game is—you're not going to win football games. And I feel like we've talked a lot about that, and it was obviously a step back from the progress that we felt like we've made. So it's going to be a lesson.”
The Saints didn't play most of their starters in the game, so it's a good thing that they weren't a part of this blowout. At the same time, it's players who are fighting for spots on the team, and this may not have been the game they want t have on film.
There's one more chance for the Saints to get it right with their final preseason game coming against the Dallas Cowboys.
