Luis Campos has given Liverpool something to work with.
Asked about Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye on French television, PSG’s sporting director pointed to last summer as evidence that deadline-day business is still very much live.

“In terms of departures, we’ll see what happens regarding Barcola and Mbaye,” Campos said.
“I understand your questions about them, but you also have to understand my position.”
“We’ll see what happens at the end of the window, remember last year with Donnarumma, it was done at the end of the window.”
“We’ll see.”
The Donnarumma comparison is deliberate.
Manchester City’s move for the goalkeeper wasn’t confirmed until 2 September last year, after the deadline had technically passed for most business.
Campos is signalling that PSG won’t be rushed, and that nothing is settled either way.
Liverpool’s interest in Barcola remains active.
Mbaye was considered earlier in the window before attention shifted to Yankuba Minteh, and that’s where the Reds have hit a wall.
Brighton rejected an offer worth around £60m ($82m) last week, holding out for closer to £70m ($95m) for the Gambian.
The numbers explain why Barcola is the priority.
He scored 11 Ligue 1 goals in 29 appearances last season across 1,750 minutes, at 0.57 goals per 90, which put him top of PSG’s scoring charts domestically and 16th out of 412 Ligue 1 players who managed at least three matches.
Dig deeper and the underlying data is stronger still.
His non-penalty xG per 90 sits at 0.62, giving him an npxG figure of 12.11, inside the top 98th percentile in Ligue 1.
He took 65 shots with 31 on target, a shooting accuracy of 47.69 percent, scoring once every 5.91 attempts. Across the season he created 17 big chances and initiated 205 dangerous attacks.
The one weakness is provision.
A single Ligue 1 assist all season, against 4.66 xA, suggests either poor finishing from teammates or a genuine gap in his final ball.
His Champions League return was different: two goals and four assists in 12 appearances.
Barcola is 23, joined PSG from Lyon for €45m in August 2023, and wears the number 29.
He’s won three Ligue 1 titles, two Champions Leagues, two Coupes de France and two UEFA Super Cups.
Liverpool’s need is obvious.
Andoni Iraola salvaged a 2-2 draw at Newcastle through Dominik Szoboszlai’s late penalty, with Hugo Ekitike injured and Alexander Isak short of support.
Rio Ngumoha is best deployed off the left and needs careful management at 17.
Eight days remain.
Iraola, pressed on Barcola and Minteh before the Newcastle trip, gave nothing away, “We cannot speak about players who are not ours.”
🗣️Luís Campos : “Le mercato n’est pas fini du tout. Même dans les arrivées, si on trouve une bonne opportunité, on va le faire.”
