As the LSU football program landed Junior Tuihalamaka in the transfer portal, who was one of the players who was granted a temporary restraining order by a Louisiana judge to return to college football, the team is on track to get another one. This time, history has been made as the LSU football team will be getting former Cleveland Browns tight end Dae'Quan Wright, and it seems that the NCAA doesn't have an immediate response.
To start with the situation at hand, Wright had been in the NFL with Cleveland, but with him being one of the players able to return to college football, he entered the transfer portal, though on a professional team. With an agreement in place to play for the Tigers, he will be the first player to be on an NFL roster and then go back to college football.
“History: The Browns are waiving tight end Dae’Quan Wright and, if he clears waivers, he has an agreement in place for the 2026 season to play for LSU, per agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln. Wright is believed to be the first player who could play for an NFL team and then go back to play in college,” Adam Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
According to On3 Sports' Pete Nakos, the NCAA has no comment.
“NCAA is not commenting at this time,” Nakos wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
As mentioned, Wright is one of 16 players who filed a lawsuit this past week against the NCAA, as the Louisiana court ruled that they were eligible to return to the collegiate level. At any rate, it remains to be seen how this situation unfolds, as Wright played for the Ole Miss Rebels in 2024 and 2025, also under Lane Kiffin, as they reunite.
