Arsenal have reportedly received an opening £50million bid from Al Hilal for Gabriel Martinelli as talks over the Brazilian’s potential departure accelerate.
The Saudi Pro League club opened negotiations over Martinelli during the weekend, with Arsenal understood to value the winger at around £60m.
Al Hilal have now taken the next step by putting a proposal on the table, although there is currently no suggestion Arsenal have accepted it.

Al Hilal submit £50m Gabriel Martinelli bid
According to talkSPORT, Al Hilal have submitted an opening offer worth £50m for Martinelli.
That would leave their proposal around £10m short of Arsenal’s reported valuation.
ReadArsenal reported on Sunday that Arsenal had entered talks with Al Hilal over a potential £60m sale, with Martinelli also becoming open to the possibility of moving to Saudi Arabia.
The player’s stance is significant after he previously rejected the opportunity to join Galatasaray.
Martinelli turned down the Turkish club despite Arsenal receiving a £38m offer earlier this month.
Al Hilal have now offered considerably more.
Arsenal face Martinelli decision
Martinelli’s position at Arsenal has become increasingly uncertain during the opening weeks of the season.
The 25-year-old was omitted from Mikel Arteta’s squad for both the Community Shield victory over Manchester City and Friday’s 3-0 Premier League win against Coventry City.
Senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel has also reported that Arteta has made clear Martinelli is no longer part of his plans, while Al Hilal had already indicated they were prepared to exceed Galatasaray’s previous offer.
The Brazilian has 12 months remaining on his contract, although Arsenal hold an option to extend it by another year.
A £50m opening bid therefore presents Arsenal with a significant decision.
It remains below the club’s reported £60m asking price, but negotiations have now moved from exploratory talks to an offer being made.
Whether Arsenal reject the proposal, negotiate towards their valuation or sanction Martinelli’s departure will determine the next stage of the deal.
