The latest Premier League transfer news as Man United, Arsenal and Newcastle United push to get late window deals completed
The 2026/27 Premier League season got off to a rip-roaring start last weekend, as England’s elite clubs squared off in the first gameweek of the new campaign. Hull City made all the headlines by beating Manchester United 2-0, while there were also impressive wins for Brighton over Aston Villa and Brentford against big-spending Tottenham Hotspur.

We’re also approaching the final few days of the summer transfer window, and activity is set to become frenzied as Premier League clubs look to get their final bits of shopping done in what will be their last opportunity to do so before January. Plenty of high profile deals are expected to go through, with Man Utd, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool among those expected to busy.
Today’s rumours round-up starts at St. James’ Park, where Newcastle United are looking to fill the gaping hole in their midfield. The club sold Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes for a combined fee of £175m, and they’re now under pressure to find some top quality replacements. The club have been heavily linked with Man City’s Nico Gonzalez, who’s set to become surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium.
Football Insider now say that the Citizens will let the Spaniard go - as soon as they’ve found a replacement. Newcastle’s luck looks to be in, given that City are close to confirming the big-money signing of Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille. However, it’s said that the player is currently “uncertain” about joining the Magpies, and could well cost over £50m.
The 3AM Verdict: Newcastle have had a brutal record of being rejected by potential signings over the past couple of seasons, and a knockback from Gonzalez would be another savage blow. He could become a real star at St. James’ Park, and would add some serious quality to their depleted midfield. The Magpies should step up the charm offensive and get the deal done.

Arsenal head into the new week in excellent spirits, after kicking off their title defence with a comfortable 3-0 win over newly-promoted Coventry City. The Gunners’ squad isn’t complete yet, however, with a left-sided attacker the final puzzle they’re looking to slot into place before next week’s deadline.
Caught Offside claim they could still be in the running to sign PSG’s Bradley Barcola, as Liverpool continue to struggle in their attempts to make progress towards completing the deal. It’s said that Arsenal have a “growing interest” in the France international, who is valued by his club at around £130m+ add-ons. It’s noted that Arsenal are also exploring other options, including Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.
The 3AM Verdict: We expect both Arsenal and Liverpool to spend some serious money towards the end of the transfer window. Barcola would be an excellent signing for Arsenal, but at more than £130m, he just doesn’t seem worth the money. Liverpool are doing the sensible thing and moving for Brighton’s far cheaper Yankuba Minteh, and the Gunners should follow suit and look for a similarly well-priced Premier League-proven option.

Speaking of a Premier League proven winger, Manchester United are taking a look at Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr, according to Team Talk. They say that the Red Devils are ready to battle Galatasaray for the Senegalese sensation, who is believed to have an asking price north of £50 million. The Turkish giants look to be leading the race, with the player’s entourage said to have agreed personal terms.
However, Galatasaray appear to be struggling to pay the fee, leading Man United to “monitor” the ongoing situation. Sarr excelled at the World Cup earlier this summer, scoring four goals and providing one assist in Senegal’s four matches. He can play either on the right, left, or down the middle, making him a versatile, attractive prospect to potential suitors.
The 3AM Verdict: United already have Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo as options on the right, and now it looks like Marcus Rashford is staying, they also well stocked on the left. Sarr would be an upgrade on Patrick Dorgu, certainly, but £50m+ is a lot to pay for a player who would most likely end up being Rashford’s understudy for the foreseeable future.
