The Jets offense should look much different in 2026. With more weapons, improved versatility, and a new approach under Frank Reich, here are 11 reasons why this unit could finally resemble a modern NFL offense. We’ll start seeing in a couple of weeks, but here are my thoughts after the first few weeks of Jets training camp.
Jets Offense
This will be a rare year in which we will not try to force a run-first offense.
All 3 starting WRs in 11 personnel have a strength that complements each other. Wilson’s route running, Mitchell as a deep threat, and Cooper with a physical after-the-catch ability. All three can beat man coverage.
This should allow the Jets to stretch the field vertically and punish teams that try to stack the box, bracket Garret Wilson or Dare to blitz.
The starting offensive line finally has quality bookends and guards to give QB time and to attack the field horizontally with pulls and screens.
This team went from having no quality tight ends to having three. I’m not putting Jeremy Ruckert in that bucket and hope Jelani Woods leapfrogs into the #2 TE spot to start the season and give Kenyon Sadiq time to acclimate
Strategically, they finally can and should vary the game plan to leverage these new strengths. Against smaller quicker teams, throw out a healthy dose of 3 TE sets
We’ve been playing checkers for years and have a nice new shiny chess piece in Sadiq. I’m not expecting huge stats but hope that they simply use him to create mismatches and have the other team play pick your poison. Teams now have to watch the mid and deep range seam pass
The running game will follow the passing game’s lead. Pass to open up the run. Welcome to modern-day football
Situationally, we have several attractive red zone options from Hall to Woods to Cooper to Patrick
Still concerned with short yardage because our Center can be pushed back and is considered our OL more finesse than power (except for Membou and Parham)
This offense goes South in a hurry if the OL doesn’t take that next step or suffers from the injury bug. Geno needs protection to be that 10-16 QB we should be praying for
