Liverpool are expected to return with a third bid for Brighton‘s Yankuba Minteh, while talks remain ongoing for Bradley Barcola as the transfer window enters its final week.
The needs still to be addressed in the transfer window were laid bare on the opening day of the Premier League season, but attacking reinforcements remain the focal point before the September 1 deadline.
Barcola and Minteh continue to be pursued, while Ibrahim Mbaye is still linked but has seemingly been priced out of a move as Liverpool aim to sign two new wingers.
It remains to be seen what the knock-on effect will be for Cody Gakpo after he started his season with a goal, with Tottenham naming the Dutchman as a leading target.
Liverpool have a lot of work to do at the negotiating table, and bids for Barcola and Minteh are expected imminently.

Barcola was not part of PSG‘s travelling squad for their draw against Rennes on Sunday, nor was Mbaye, as Luis Enrique again left them out.
The Mail‘s Lewis Steele states that Liverpool “remain hopeful” of signing Barcola “this week.”
Liverpool are still seeking a compromise between PSG‘s demands and their own valuation for the Frenchman, with Le Parisien reporting “a favorable outcome could be reached at any moment.”
It has been mooted that Liverpool could strike an agreement below €150 million (£128.3m), but not lower than €120m (£102.6m) for Barcola, who will only train until his future is resolved.
Third bid expected for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh
The Brighton winger may be injured, but Liverpool have made the 22-year-old a target before the deadline, with another bid expected after having two previous offers rejected.
According to Gambian journalist Foday Manneh, who broke news of Liverpool’s move for Minteh, a third bid was “expected” either on Sunday evening or Monday morning.
The Reds had £50 million and £60 million offers rejected last week, with the Seagulls holding on for around £70 million.
The player “continues to wait to formalise personal terms,” but that is not expected to be an issue as the Reds prepare an “improved and convincing offer” for Brighton.
Minteh would be in addition to Barcola, with Liverpool looking to sign two new wingers before next Tuesday’s deadline, with the draw at Newcastle showing the need for pace and directness.
The 22-year-old, however, would not be an immediate option for Andoni Iraola after undergoing surgery on his right leg that will keep him sidelined until at least November.
He has 17 goal contributions in 66 Premier League appearances – nine goals and eight assists.
