Mohamed Salah made an immediate impact for Trabzonspor last weekend, scoring twice to secure a 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir and claim the club’s first win of the new Super Lig season.
The Egyptian forward scored his first goals for the Turkish side on his first league start.

Salah opened the scoring after eight minutes at Papara Park, reacting quickest after Basaksehir goalkeeper Muhammed Sengezer failed to control a cross.
He doubled Trabzonspor’s advantage four minutes into the second half after combining with Ernest Muci before finishing with his left foot.
The 34-year-old came close to completing a hat-trick in stoppage time, but both of his late efforts were ruled out. One was disallowed for a foul, while the second was chalked off for offside.
The result gave Trabzonspor their first three points of the Super Lig campaign. It also provided a strong response after the club opened the league season with a 1-1 draw against Kasimpasa and then suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Ferencvaros in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie.
Salah had joined Trabzonspor earlier this month after leaving Liverpool. The Turkish club confirmed his arrival on a two-year contract, completing one of the most notable moves of the summer transfer window.
Now, Trabzonspor are adding another player with strong Liverpool connections to their squad. The Turkish club have confirmed the arrival of former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, who is set to join the team after leaving Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.
The Turkish club confirmed on Monday that Fabinho will arrive Trabzonspor on a free transfer, with the club posting a photograph of the 32-year-old wearing their shirt aboard a private jet. Trabzonspor also announced that he would arrive in the city at 11.30am local time.
Fabinho left Al-Ittihad after his spell in Saudi Arabia and is now set to continue his career in Turkey. He previously spent five years at Liverpool before moving to the Saudi Pro League in 2023.
The Brazilian midfielder played a key role during his time at Anfield, where he shared the dressing room with Salah.
The pair were part of the Liverpool side that won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title in the 2019/20 season.
Their reunion gives Trabzonspor two players who were central figures in Liverpool’s successful period under Jurgen Klopp.
Salah left the club this summer, while Fabinho departed Anfield in 2023, and both have now chosen the same destination in Turkey.
