Nicolas Jackson looks out of Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea plans for 2026/27, and some insiders believe he already has a deal agreed to leave this summer.
Bayern Munich decided not to sign Jackson following his loan spell there last season, and he was included in the travelling party for Chelsea’s pre-season tour.
Xabi Alonso was keen to take a look at the striker and how he could fit into his squad, however looks as if he wants to build around Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck as his striker options.
Where will Chelsea finish in the Premier League in 2026/27?
Let's hear how you think Xabi Alonso will get on this season…
Insiders believe Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa is ‘done’
Aston Villa have been strongly linked with signing Jackson, after already completing the loan addition of Alejandro Garnacho.
In fact, as per Simon Phillips’ Substack, he has been told by insiders that the Senegal international moving to Villa Park has ‘been done’ since Morgan Rogers went the other way.

He said: “Our sources have now heard that a move to Aston Villa is ‘progressing’ well now for Jackson.
“Some insiders even believe that Jackson to Villa has ‘been done’ since Chelsea signed Morgan Rogers off them earlier in the window, so Jackson to Villa is an unofficial part of that deal. But due to the rules, it cannot be shown as a swap deal as such.
“There has naturally been other interest in the striker, but mostly just loan moves. Chelsea are ideally looking for the £65m they have slapped on Jackson’s head and have not been entertaining loan moves. Jackson to Villa just has that feel of inevitability now and has done for some time.”
Jackson was left out of the squad for Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad, which looks the final nail in the coffin for his career at Stamford Bridge.
Villa’s desire to sign a new striker could be about to be accelerated following news that Ollie Watkins is pushing for a move to Saudi Arabia.
They are in desperate need of reinforcements, with the 4-0 defeat to Brighton in their opening Premier League game suggesting they are struggling following plenty of player exits already.
