Bournemouth star Alex Scott with a Chelsea badge
Chelsea remain interested in Bournemouth's Alex Scott
Chelsea are ready to test Bournemouth’s resolve over Alex Scott if Manchester City make a firm offer for Enzo Fernandez in the coming week, TEAMtalk understands.
City remain interested in Fernandez and lines of communication with the midfielder’s camp have remained open, despite their public stance over Chelsea’s valuation.
City sources told TEAMtalk last week that they would not pay the £120million-plus being demanded for the Argentina international, but we understand a deal could potentially come into reach if add-ons are included.
Chelsea are aware of the situation and are already carrying out their due diligence on potential replacements should Fernandez leave Stamford Bridge.
Lamine Camara of Monaco and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton are among the midfielders being assessed, but TEAMtalk understands Chelsea’s top target would be Alex Scott.
Chelsea have already seen a bid for the Bournemouth midfielder rejected this summer, but they have not lost interest.
Scott also rejected another offer from Bournemouth over a new contract this month, with his current stance increasing the belief that he would be open to a move.

Chelsea considering £85m swoop for Alex Scott
Scott, 22, started Bournemouth’s opening game of the season against Manchester City, but we understand he remains keen on the possibility of stepping up to a club competing at the top end of the Premier League.
Chelsea have already shown with Morgan Rogers that they are prepared to make an offer which becomes extremely difficult for a selling club to refuse.
Sources indicate they could take a similar approach with Scott.
Their previous bid was worth around £64million, but sources indicate Chelsea could go as high as £85million to try to prise Scott away from Bournemouth.
The youngster enjoyed a brilliant 2025/26 season, making 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals. Scott came close to forcing his way into England’s World Cup squad, and is widely regarded as one of the country’s most exciting talents.
Scott has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time, and much could depend on what happens with Fernandez.
It’ll be interesting to see whether City do make one final push to sign Fernandez, and if they do, keep a very close eye on Scott.
