Transfer deadline day is fast approaching, as Premier League clubs are in a rush to get their business over the line before the market comes to a close.
It's been a summer that started slowly, with the World Cup impacting the deals that could be completed across several divisions, but it has ramped up since players have returned to their respective teams for the new season. Considering the knock-on effect of that, there could be plenty of late transfer business conducted by clubs across the Premier League and beyond — with Liverpool chasing Bradley Barcola.

When is transfer deadline day for Premier League?
The 2026 summer transfer deadline for Premier League clubs is Tuesday, September 1, with a closing time of 11 pm (BST). It will mark the end of nearly three months of business that could be completed by teams.
The next available opportunity for clubs to register new transfers will be Friday, January 1, 2027, when the winter window opens for roughly one month of further deals.

What is a deal sheet?
A transfer deal sheet is a document that allows clubs to request more time beyond the transfer deadline if it meets the threshold for being close enough to completion.
For the 11 pm deadline, a deal sheet cannot be used before 9 pm, and will allow clubs another two hours to get a move done; otherwise, it will fall through.

An example excerpt of the deal sheet reads: "We, the undersigned, declare that negotiations for the transfer/loan of (Player) from (Transferor Club) to (Transferee Club) have been concluded prior to the closing of the transfer window.
"The Compensation Fee payable is £/€/$ (insert amount) to be paid as follows: Guaranteed sums: (insert amount). Contingent payments: (insert amount)."
