Chelsea face surprise Man City interest in£25m Marc Guiu

Manchester City have reportedly explored a move for Chelsea striker Marc Guiu, giving the 20-year-old another potential destination before the transfer window closes.

Guiu was omitted from Chelsea’s squad-number list for the new season and has already attracted interest from Napoli.

However, former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca could now offer the Spanish forward an unexpected opportunity to remain in the Premier League.

Marc Guiu is set to be one of three strikers leaving Chelsea this summer and @TEAMtalk understands that Man City have explored a move for the young forward.

Man City explore Marc Guiu transfer

TEAMtalk reports that Manchester City have assessed Guiu as a possible understudy to Erling Haaland, with Omar Marmoush potentially leaving for Tottenham.

Maresca worked with Guiu at Stamford Bridge and is understood to remain an admirer of the striker, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2024.

The report values Guiu at approximately £25 million, although no formal Manchester City bid or agreement with Chelsea has been reported.

ReadChelsea previously reported that Guiu was considering several possible exits, with Napoli among his potential destinations.

Manchester City’s emergence would introduce a new Premier League option after previous interest largely centred on clubs in Italy, Spain and Germany.

Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Napoli have already made contact over Guiu, while TEAMtalk says RB Leipzig have also considered the forward.

Chelsea squad decision points towards Guiu exit

Chelsea’s official squad-number announcement for the 2026/27 season did not include Guiu.

João Pedro, Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha were all assigned numbers, underlining the competition for attacking places under Xabi Alonso.

Despite his uncertain Chelsea future, Guiu previously impressed under Maresca in the Conference League.

The Italian praised the striker after his hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers, saying: “He has already scored six goals in this competition and since the start he has been working well.”

Guiu could be one of several forwards to leave Stamford Bridge before the deadline.

ReadChelsea reported earlier on Monday that Jackson is open to joining Atlético Madrid, while Delap has also been linked with a departure.

For now, Manchester City’s interest remains exploratory. Chelsea have not confirmed an offer, and any transfer would depend on negotiations between the clubs and Guiu’s preferred next move.
