Striker Igor Tyjon, 18, completed his medical last week after a deal was agreed with Blackburn Rovers for an initial £1million plus £2million in add-ons. The England youth international has been a long-term target and is expected to receive some first-team minutes this season. His arrival ends a drawn-out pursuit that began last year.

Talks remain ongoing for attacking midfielder James Scanlon, also from Manchester United. The 19-year-old is keen on the move and personal terms are not an issue, with an agreement between the clubs understood to be close. It is hoped the transfer will be finalised by the end of the week. Scanlon has already earned 24 senior caps for Gibraltar.
