Liverpool attempted to hijack Arsenal’s sponsorship deal with Emirates prior to the Gunners’ recent renewal, according to reports. The Merseyside club explored the possibility of replacing Standard Chartered with Emirates on the front of their shirts.
The two deals could not overlap, meaning a successful approach by Liverpool would have prevented Arsenal from extending their agreement. Liverpool still have a deal with Standard Chartered but are reportedly looking for a change from the 2027/28 season.

Arsenal have since confirmed an extension of their Emirates partnership until 2033. The agreement covers front-of-shirt sponsorship, training kit and stadium naming rights. The club are set to earn £65million over the next two seasons, rising to £75million per season thereafter, with additional bonuses of up to £10-15million for winning the Premier League or Champions League.
Outgoing chief commercial officer Juliet Slot is understood to have agreed the extension in one of her final acts at the club. The partnership has already lasted 20 years and will now reach 27.
