Harvey Elliott’s future at Liverpool is becoming increasingly uncertain with the transfer window entering its final days.
The 23-year-old returned to Liverpool during pre-season following a difficult loan spell at Aston Villa, where opportunities were limited.

Elliott made only nine appearances for Villa, playing 277 minutes across the campaign, while a reported £35 million obligation to make his move permanent was never activated.
His return to Anfield initially appeared to offer an opportunity to rebuild his position within the squad.
Andoni Iraola suggested in July that every player would be given a fresh opportunity, describing his squad as being treated “as new signings”.
Iraola also praised Elliott for returning early to pre-season and showing a strong desire to impress. However, that encouraging start has yet to develop into a clear role for the midfielder as Liverpool continue to assess their options.
Elliott’s position is now reportedly “under review”, with the club having to decide whether to keep him for the season or consider a late move away from Anfield.
According to Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan have emerged as a potential destination. The Italian club are continuing to monitor the market despite having already completed much of their planned transfer business.
Milan are understood to be looking for a left-footed attacking midfielder who can operate on the right side.
Their preference is reportedly for a younger player who can be signed permanently, although the limited time remaining in the window could encourage them to consider alternative opportunities.
Elliott and Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz are among the names reportedly being considered.
Both players could be available if their respective clubs are open to late departures, while Milan could potentially offer the regular playing time that has been difficult to secure elsewhere.
Diaz, 26, has faced competition for minutes at Real Madrid, while Elliott has started only 18 Premier League matches across the last two seasons combined.
The Liverpool midfielder has also previously spoken about the importance of playing regularly at this stage of his career.
Despite Milan’s reported interest, there has been no formal contact between the Italian club and Liverpool over Elliott at this stage.
With the Premier League transfer window closing on September 1, Liverpool have only a short period remaining to determine whether Elliott will stay and fight for his place under Iraola or pursue a move in search of more consistent first-team football.
