Official: Super Eagles goalkeeper returns for second spell with the 'Benin Arsenal'

One-cap Nigeria international Amas Obasogie is back in the Nigeria Premier Football League after recently bidding farewell to Tanzanian outfit Singida Black Stars.

Through official channels, Bendel Insurance, nicknamed the Benin Arsenal, have announced the return of their former captain, with the goalkeeper putting pen to paper on a one-year contract.

Following Obasogie's departure from Bendel Insurance in 2024, he joined Ethiopian club Fasil Kenema before moving to Singida Black Stars.

The 26-year-old had established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the country before moving abroad, underlined by his winning the 2023–24 Goalkeeper of the Season award at the prestigious League Bloggers Awards.

Obasogie earned his first call-up to the Super Eagles for a pair of World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe but was an unused substitute in both games.

After several squad involvements without making an appearance, he eventually made his senior debut in a pre-Africa Cup of Nations friendly against Egypt in December 2025, coming off the bench to replace Stanley Nwabali.

Obasogie has been described as a modern goalkeeper known for his cat-like reflexes and impeccable ability to command and organise his defence.
