As expected, FC Barcelona teenage wonderkid Ebrima Tunkara is set for an extended period out on the sidelines after suffering an injury.
The 16-year-old La Masia prodigy suffered a serious knock on his ankle during Barça Atletic’s friendly match against CF Vilanova this past Sunday.
Now, the club have confirmed that the teenage wonderkid, who did almost the entire pre-season with the senior team, will be out for six weeks with injury.
“Barça Atlètic player Ebrima Tunkara has a traumatic ligament injury to his left ankle, which occurred during the match against CF Vilanova this Sunday. The approximate time out is six weeks,” the club statement read.

This comes as a blow for Ebrima Tunkara, who had emerged as one of the most standout prospects during pre-season with the senior team.
The teenage sensation was also presented to the fans at the Spotify Camp Nou before the Joan Gamper Trophy match and proceeded to play his first game at the iconic stadium later that night.
The idea was for him to alternate between first-team dynamics and the reserve team, while having a key role under Juliano Belletti.
However, the injury means that Ebrima will miss the start of Barça Atletic’s season and will only return at some point in October.
The ankle injury also dealt a blow to the youngster’s chances of featuring in a friendly for Spain U-18, as he was initially called up before being replaced by Barça teammate Michal Zuk.
