San Francisco 49ers owner John “Jed” York was arrested over the weekend in Ohio and subsequently sentenced after entering a plea in municipal court, according to a report from local station WKBN. The 45-year-old NFL team executive was taken into custody on Sunday at 9:35 a.m. at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community in East Palestine, Ohio, by local police who were assisting the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
After his arrest, York posted a $5,000 bond and appeared in court on Monday morning, where he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges: disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools. Court documents revealed that York was sentenced to two days in the Columbiana County Jail, to be served concurrently, with credit granted for one day already served. In addition to the jail sentence, the judge ordered York to pay $1,150 in fines, mandated the forfeiture of $160 in seized cash to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, and approved the return of his mobile phone.
This sudden legal trouble comes amidst a significant shift in the 49ers' front office, as York recently stepped down from his daily duties as chief executive officer to elevate Al Guido. While York’s family has deep historical ties to the Youngstown region, neither York’s legal representation nor the 49ers organization has released an official comment regarding the incident.
