The ongoing summer transfer window has seen several key players depart Manchester City for the next chapter of their respective careers, whether it was Bernardo Silva’s move to Real Madrid, Rodri’s return to La Liga with FC Barcelona, or John Stones’ arrival at the San Siro with Inter. It is clear that multiple parts of the Citizens squad have been shaken up.
With these departures comes plenty of opportunities for other players to step up their role within the team, which could include the likes of Rayan Ait-Nouri - who struggled to find game time under Pep Guardiola following his £36.3 million move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Etihad Stadium last summer.
The Algerian international defender took to the pitch in 28 games last season, with 20 of those being starts, recording four assists in the process as well as 21 interceptions and 28 tackles won on the defensive end, proving to be an anchor Pep Guardiola could rely on when he opted to start his fresh recruit.
Juventus hold interest in Rayan Ait-Nouri
But just as he could receive any more game time and opportunities to excel in his Manchester City career under Enzo Maresca, a team elsewhere in Europe has reportedly shown interest in Rayan Ait-Nouri.
That is the suggestion from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Juventus see Ait-Nouri as a potential pivot point if their pursuit of other players in the final days of the summer market fail to progress.
The Italian giants are reportedly looking to bolster the left side of their defensive line, with one of their other targets being Real Madrid’s Alvaro Carreras.
While it looks like another departure at the Etihad Stadium could still be on the cards, the Old Lady would have to shell out significant funds for the Algerian, given the length of the contract that he inked only last summer with Manchester City.
How could Man City react should a sale happen?
With the 2026 summer transfer deadline sitting close to a week and a half away, any deal for Rayan Ait-Nouri would have to move quickly, and currently seems largely unlikely given the focus on settling the squad ahead of the closure of the market.
Any such move for Ait-Nouri would also leave Manchester City in quite the tough spot in their left-back department, with Nico O’Reilly and Josko Gvardiol being the only other two prime candidates to fill in for those opportunities.
