Arsenal are reportedly open to selling Myles Lewis-Skelly in the final week of the transfer window against Mikel Arteta's wishes, with Man Utd still eyeing a late deal.
The Gunners opened the new Premier League campaign with a dominant 3-0 win over newly-promoted Coventry City on Friday night, with the England international starting in midfield alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.
The 19-year-old has attracted the interest of a number of clubs this summer, including Man Utd and Chelsea, with GIVEMESPORT sources understanding that the player was offered to them via intermediaries earlier this month.
Arteta spoke prior to the game to reveal that he "100%" expects Lewis-Skelly to stay at the Emirates Stadium this season, but according to The Sun, the north London giants are still willing to sanction a late exit if their £50m+ asking price is matched.
Man Utd are keen to bring in a left-back to help cover and compete with Luke Shaw, having completed their midfield rebuild with the signings of Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Carlos Baleba.
However, the Red Devils currently feel that the £50m+ asking price is excessive and are hopeful that they can convince Arsenal to drop their demands before the deadline on September 1st.
United have made a left-back a priority in this window now, with Lewis Hall seen as the top target. But Newcastle United have taken steps to prevent him from leaving in this window, having already lost all of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali, and Bruno Guimaraes.
Hall would be open to making the move, but it's unlikely that a deal will be sanctioned in this window. Lewis-Skelly is understood to prefer to stay at Arsenal, and regular football is believed to be a priority for him. But sources have informed The Sun that his recent run of starts is due to Martin Zubimendi's poor form and Mikel Merino's late return from the World Cup, rather than a change in his status.

Man Utd have been on the hunt for midfielders and left-backs this summer, and Lewis-Skelly is a perfect option for either role. But after completing their midfield options, his ability and versatility has surely become slightly less appealing.
But the 19-year-old has proven in recent months that he is more than capable of dominating a game in midfield, which would only make Carrick's options even stronger.
His passing is exceptional, with former coach Grant Cornock describing him as "world-class".
“The pace of his pass is at that level. He’s also playing with good players now. When he was at school, I had to actually say to him sometimes: ‘Myles, you can’t pass it that hard because these kids can’t control it!"
If a deal is there to be done, then Man Utd should spend big to get him through the door. He could be the difference between a battle for Champions League places, and a genuine title challenge.
