Sunday night’s game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky proved to be a controversial one, and not because the evening saw the Sky eliminated from the playoffs. Sky guard Natasha Cloud got into a verbal altercation with former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom, who “declared” for the 2026 WNBA draft after announcing his “transition.”
It was an ugly scene in which the two had to be kept apart by arena security and the Sky coaching staff, and it ultimately resulted in Freedom being kicked out of the game.
Kanter gave his side of the story on Fox News.
“Towards the end of the third quarter Sophie Cunningham shot a three and um I put my hands up to celebrate right and literally uh a couple possessions later Natasha came back and starts screaming and yelling and said, ‘she’s not gonna sleep with you,’ and I was like, I am not trying to sleep with her, I’m just here to protect women and support her,” Kanter said.
“She started to walk towards me,” he added, “and literally I just got up, and then I was like, ‘I’m just here to protect women, and that’s all,’ right, and then she started to yell; she started to, uh, use some very heavy language; she started to actually cuss…I just cannot believe that she was just cussing and using those F-bombs in front of all these kids…I’m sure she’s loved in Chicago, and many kids are idolizing her and stuff, but that’s not how a WNBA athlete should react.”
“They’re forcing the conversation”
On Monday, Barstool and Fox Sports star Kaycee Smith appeared on Fox News to discuss things further.
“Kayce, I fear— I understand you might disagree with me when it comes to Enes Kanter and Royce White,” Will Cain said to Smith.
“It’s not that I disagree with the premise of it, Will, because you’re right, they are forcing the conversation to happen,” Smith responded. “The issue is that the satire has gone so far that it’s giving these people that are getting upset about it an escape hatch. They’re not having to actually answer what is eligible in the WNBA. They’re saying, ‘look at these men, they’re mocking women athletes, they’re mocking transgender athletes,’ and they’re not actually having to answer the question: who is eligible for the WNBA?
“But I think they’re forcing the conversation, and they force it all the way to scoring 50 points in a WNBA game,” Cain responded, that will be incredibly entertaining to watch. But they’re forcing now people to say things like real men don’t play women’s sports, which is what everyone else has been saying for years. But they have been busy in response, telling us that you’re a transphobe. Now it appears to me, in response to Ines Cantor, they’re all being transphobic.”
After last night’s antics, this point rings truer than ever.

“But, Will, you and I both know that neither of these men are being serious about becoming transgender women for the WNB. But that’s what these people are going to hold on to,” Smith said.
To Smith’s point, it’s pretty clear that Kanter’s stunt should not be taken seriously, and that he is foremost concerned with bringing attention to himself.
