San Francisco 49ers Owner Jed York’s Arrest Comes With More Charges

Jed York, the 49ers’ owner, was arrested in Ohio over the weekend on charges related to prostitution. The 46-year-old pleaded no contest to the criminal charges on Monday. NBC Bay Area broke the news on X, while Columbiana County court records revealed the details of York’s sentencing. He was ordered to serve one day in jail for each charge, with the sentences running concurrently. Since York had already spent a day in custody, he received credit for time served. York also posted a $5,000 bond and was hit with $1,150 in fines, according to court records.

Although the arrest report did not specify what York was carrying that led to the criminal tools charge. In Ohio, the charge can cover a wide range of items, making the exact circumstances unclear. As part of the plea agreement, $160 seized during the arrest will be forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. A cell phone that was confiscated, meanwhile, was ordered to be returned to York.
York has been the 49ers’ CEO since 2008 and took over as the team’s principal owner in 2024 after acquiring additional shares from his mother, co-chair Denise DeBartolo York. His parents continue to serve as co-chairs of the organization. The 46-year-old is the son of Denise DeBartolo York and John York and the nephew of former 49ers owner Edward J. DeBartolo Jr. He grew up in the Youngstown, Ohio, area, not far from where he was arrested over the weekend.
The 49ers have yet to comment on York’s arrest.
