The Baltimore Ravens gave Zay Flowers a four-year, $140 million contract extension in early August. It's a deal that makes him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. However, Flowers was spotted not practicing on Monday, and it's not entirely clear why.
Reports indicate that the 25-year-old wideout arrived at the practice field in street clothes, according to Sam Cohn of the Baltimore Sun. While the reason is unknown, Cohn does claim that Flowers looks healthy.
“Zay Flowers just walked onto the field in sneakers and a T-shirt,” reported Cohn. “Unclear why he's not practicing, but he looks OK.”
Considering there are no reports of a possible injury, it very well could just be a rest day for the fourth-year veteran. The Ravens will likely address the situation at some point when media members ask for the reason behind Flowers not participating in Monday's practice.
Until he returns, fans should expect Rashod Bateman, Devontez Walker, and exciting rookie Ja'Kobi Lane to get most of the first-team reps. Meanwhile, other rookie wideout Elijah Sarratt, Chris Moore, Cornelius Johnson, and Dayton Wade will likely work with the twos.
However it plays out, he is expected to be the top passing option for quarterback Lamar Jackson this coming season. Zay Flowers has a chance to build upon a career year after finishing the 2025-26 campaign with career highs in receptions (86) and yards (1,211) while tying his career high in touchdowns (5).
