Baskonia reportedly add former NBA big man Kenneth Faried

Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz have reportedly agreed to a deal with a former NBA big man who won MVP of the Month last season in the EuroLeague.

According to Spanish journalist Chema de Lucas, Baskonia are signing Kenneth Faried to bolster their frontcourt for the upcoming season.

Faried had signed a two-month contract with Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens last season to bolster a frontcourt plagued by injuries; however, his stay was eventually extended for the remainder of the campaign.

His strong early performances led to him being named EuroLeague MVP of the Month in November.

Throughout the season, the 36-year-old averaged 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 13 minutes per contest across 35 EuroLeague appearances.

Despite solid contributions Panathinaikos announced his departure this summer and Faried is set to remain in the EuroLeague.

The American big man has had previous stints in Europe, playing in Russia and later in Italy.

Faried also has extensive NBA experience spending a season with the Houston Rockets and seven seasons with the Denver Nuggets.

He has also won a gold medal with Team USA in the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
