Liverpool are still looking for at least one new winger to sign this summer, and Antonio Nusa has reminded them that he could be their man after all.
The Reds have been one of the clubs closely monitoring the Norway star over the last year, and they believe he can do well at Liverpool. However, they have not yet made their move for him.
Nusa continues to play for RB Leipzig, where he is considered one of the first names on the team sheet. It was therefore no surprise that he started their German Cup match against SV Eintracht Trier 05.
Leipzig proved far too strong for their opponents, winning the match 6-0 to advance in the competition. However, Nusa’s performance is what could have caught Liverpool’s attention as they remain in the market for a new winger.
Nusa Impresses in German Cup
TV2 says Nusa dazzled for much of the match, making their opponents uncomfortable and making it difficult for them to perform well. His display was another reminder of the qualities that have attracted interest from clubs such as Liverpool.
RB Leipzig were clearly a level above their opponents, but Nusa still managed to stand out with his performance. He also scored one of the goals, helping set the tone for what could become an important season for him if he remains at the club.
His display will be encouraging for Leipzig, particularly because greater responsibility could be placed on him this season. The Norway international has an opportunity to become even more influential as the campaign develops.
Nusa Has Chance to Shine
Yan Diomande has left the club, meaning more attacking responsibility has been placed on Nusa’s shoulders this season. That should give him plenty of opportunities to play and demonstrate what he can offer at the highest level.
For Liverpool, Nusa’s latest performance provides another reason to continue monitoring his situation. The Reds still need at least one winger, and the Norway star has already shown that he can make a significant contribution for Leipzig.
If Nusa continues performing at this level, Liverpool may have to consider whether now is the right time to make their interest concrete. He has the opportunity to establish himself as an even more important player for Leipzig, but his form could also strengthen the case for Liverpool to make a move.
