The Portland Trail Blazers were dealt a major blow on Monday when it was revealed that one of their top rising young players in Shaedon Sharpe would be sidelined for at least six months after suffering a meniscus injury, as per Shams Charania. As of publication, no immediate date for when the injury was initially sustained was given. The prognosis would keep him out well into the 2026-27 season.
Shaedon Sharpe’s injury is a brutal development for a Blazers team that was looking to take another big step forward after making the playoffs last season, snapping a four year drought of missing the postseason. It was also expected to be a big year for Sharpe who was coming off the best season of his career to date despite a late leg injury
The former lottery pick appeared in 50 games, including 42 starts, at a little over 29 minutes per game. He averaged a career-best 20.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals with splits of 45.2 percent shooting from the field, 33.7 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 78.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

Sharpe has had some bad injury luck since his rookie season when he appeared in 80 games. His second year he suffered an abdominal injury in February of 2024 that caused him to miss the remainder of the season. Then last year was the leg injury, although he was able to make a return in time for the playoffs.
