Enzo Fernandez’s future continues to hang over Chelsea as the transfer deadline approaches.
Enzo Fernandez dominated headlines this summer following a deep World Cup run with Argentina and intense transfer speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City.
After returning late to pre-season, the midfielder started on the bench for Xabi Alonso’s opening Premier League clash against Fulham. Introduced in the 64th minute to replace Romeo Lavia, Fernandez endured a hostile reception as Fulham fans targeted him with reignited Falklands chants.
On the pitch, Fernandez offered a steady presence over his 26-minute cameo, completing 12 of his 16 passes to help Chelsea see out a hard-fought 3–2 victory at Craven Cottage.
However, his future still remains uncertain.
Xabi Alonso casts doubt over Enzo Fernandez’s future
Fabrizio Romano issued an update on the Enzo Fernandez situation ahead of Chelsea’s win over Fulham.

The Citizens are in daily club-to-club contact with Enzo’s camp, but Chelsea could only consider to sell if they can improve their squad.
And speaking in the wake of Chelsea’s Premier League opener, Alonso was also hesitant.
“In football, I am not surprised by anything. We will see. My wish is that we know what will happen for the future but we will see this week.”
One of the most telling signs happened at full-time, where Enzo Fernandez could be seen walking down the tunnel whilst the rest of his Chelsea teammates clapped the fans.
