Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey exited the Physically Unable to Perform list and practiced for the first time during 2026 training camp. He also had a message, during a session with reporters.
“We need the whole secondary out there,” Ramsey said. “[They’ve got to pay Joey Porter](https://x.com/937theFan/status/2091937058898035191?s=20).”
Earlier on Monday, coach Mike McCarthy said that the Steelers and Porter, a second-round pick in 2023, are at “[impasse](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/mike-mccarthy-steelers-joey-porter-jr-are-at-impasse).”
Porter remains on the PUP list, the product of an obvious hold in. The question becomes whether he’ll take the best offer the Steelers have made on a multi-year deal, play the final year of his rookie contract at less than $4 million, continue to sit out into the regular season, or be traded.
Regardless, the clock is ticking. The Steelers, as a matter of policy, don’t do new deals once the season begins.
