Controversy spilled onto the pitch at Craven Cottage as Fulham fans targeted Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez with a reignited Falklands chant.
Chelsea‘s first showing under Xabi Alonso was a bit of a rollercoaster. The Blues were brilliant in the first-half, pressing Fulham and creating countless chances.
However, the second-half was a different story, as Chelsea looked vulnerable after Cole Palmer’s goal, with Fulham constantly creating chances with ease.
And there are still serious question marks over Robert Sanchez, who was at fault for both of the Cottagers’ goals and almost allowed Antonee Robinson to equalise from no-mans land.
Plus Enzo Fernandez’s substitute appearances, which resulted in some controversial chants.
Fulham fans aim Falklands chant at Enzo Fernandez
Enzo Fernandez is still feeling the effects of his behaviour after Argentina’s win over England at the 2026 World Cup, as him and his teammates held the controversial banner.
Fulham fans let him know all about it when he was brought on. Boos could be heard, as well as the chant of “Enzo Fernandez, the Falklands are ours.”
Followed by “Enzo Fernandez let the country down.”
Fernandez wasn’t one of the Argentina players to receive a hefty suspension recently, with Leandro Paredes suspended for 10 games following his antics at the World Cup.
Enzo Fernandez is a changed man at Chelsea
The one thing that will please Chelsea fans in particular is the way that Fernandez has conducted himself in the summer and now back at Cobham.
It all started with Fernandez’s controversial comments after the Paris Saint-Germain loss last season, which kickstarted a whole saga.
But nowadays, Fernandez keeps his mouth shut publicly and leaves it down to his agent, which has seen Chelsea fans give him a lot more respect.
However, it’s important to note that there’s still a chance of Fernandez leaving before the deadline.
