Arsenal want a sell-on clause included in any Gabriel Martinelli transfer to Al Hilal, with negotiations progressing towards what could become the biggest sale in the club’s history.
Martinelli has emerged as a leading target for the Saudi Arabian side after missing Arsenal’s opening two competitive fixtures of the season.
ReadArsenal reported on Monday that Al Hilal had submitted an opening £50million offer for the winger.
Discussions have now progressed beyond the initial proposal, with Arsenal seeking additional protection if Martinelli leaves Saudi Arabia in the future.

CBS Sports reports that Arsenal want a sell-on clause included in any agreement with Al Hilal.
The proposed clause would entitle Arsenal to a share of a future transfer fee if the Brazilian subsequently leaves the Saudi club.
Negotiations between the two sides are reportedly progressing smoothly, although a gap of approximately €8m remains between their respective valuations.
Al Hilal are prepared to offer Martinelli a salary worth around €20m annually, plus bonuses, as they attempt to persuade him to make the move.
TalkSPORT reports that the latest proposal is worth £47m plus a further £4m in potential add-ons.
Personal terms have not yet been agreed, but confidence is growing that a deal could be completed this week.
Martinelli departure would reshape Arsenal attack
A transfer above £50m would make Martinelli Arsenal’s most expensive outgoing player, surpassing the previous sales of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Folarin Balogun.
Martinelli has scored 62 goals in 278 appearances since joining Arsenal from Ituano in 2019.
However, he was left out of Mikel Arteta’s squads for the Community Shield victory over Manchester City and Friday’s Premier League win against Coventry.
His departure would leave Arsenal with another attacking decision as they approach the final days of the transfer window.
Arsenal are also refusing to sanction Gabriel Jesus’ departure without identifying a suitable replacement.
Martinelli and Jesus operate in different positions, so any exits would create separate recruitment questions.
For now, Arsenal must first close the remaining valuation gap with Al Hilal while attempting to secure the sell-on protection they want.
