COVENTRY City’s loan move for Manchester City defender Stephen Mfuni has fallen through.
Various reports have confirmed Coventry’s deal for the teenage centre-back is now off despite the Sky Blues reaching an agreement with Man City.
It is believed Mfuni had reservations about his playing time had he completed a move to Coventry.
Coventry have also now agreed a deal to sign Brentford centre-back Ethan Pinnock in a £6million deal.
Mfuni is now believed to be considering a loan move to either Watford or Derby County in the Championship.
The 18-year-old has made one senior appearance for Man City and can also play at left-back.
He came off the bench in the club’s 10-1 FA Cup third round win against Exeter City last season.
Mfuni spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Watford in the Championship.
And the teenager made eight appearances for the Hornets and had been in talks regarding a return to Vicarage Road.
He has played for England up to under-19 level and scored in the FA Youth Cup final as City lifted the trophy in 2023/24.
The left-footed defender featured on the bench three times for City in the UEFA Champions League last season.
He also earned a spot on the bench in five Premier League games including both Manchester derby matches.
