Liverpool yet to receive any offers for Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott was left out of Liverpool’s squad to face Newcastle in a telling sign over his future, but the club are yet to receive any formal offers for their No. 19.

Andoni Iraola chose to omit Elliott from his 20-man squad for the 2-2 draw at Newcastle despite a shortage of options in attack.

The head coach preferred Lewis Koumas and Victor Munoz as his backup wingers, while Alexis Mac Allister came on for Florian Wirtz as Dominik Szoboszlai shifted to the No. 10 role.

With it evident Elliott does not feature prominently in Iraola’s plans as the campaign begins, Liverpool will be looking to find a buyer.

However, BBC Sport‘s Aadam Patel reports that there have been no offers for a transfer as it stands.

That is despite Elliott being effectively available for the entire summer, having returned from a doomed loan spell at Aston Villa fighting to prove himself again.

Elliott is understood to have entered the final year of his contract, though it is unclear whether Liverpool hold an option to extend that further.

But that only further highlights the need to sell this summer if the 23-year-old is not considered part of Iraola’s regular rotation.

RB Leipzig and West Ham were both interested a year ago only to be price out of a move, with Liverpool valuing Elliot at around £40 million while also seeking a buy-back clause.

That price tag will need to drop significantly this time around, with the versatile midfielder now projected to be worth between £17 million and £22 million.

This Is Anfield understands Crystal Palace were among the clubs approached earlier in the summer but with no developments over a potential deal.

With a week left until the transfer deadline the situation around Elliott should shift, with clubs growing increasingly desperate for reinforcements.

But it is far from an ideal situation for either the player or his current club, who would both have hoped to resolve his future one way or another by now.

Speaking while on Liverpool’s pre-season tour last month, Elliott admitted that he had pushed for the exit himself last summer.

“I wanted a new challenge, I wanted to go an explore something, come out of my comfort zone,” he explained.

“I thought personally it would take me on as a player again.

“Unfortunately it didn’t work out, but the way I see it is that’s last season. Now I’m here, it’s kind of a second chance if you want to call it.”

That second chance at Liverpool is unlikely to now come, but it is still uncertain where he will land come September 1.
