Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Newcastle United generated a lot of chatter on social media.
Firstly, the Reds proved with their performance that they are well and truly a work in progress under Andoni Iraola as they struggled to cope with the Magpies’ threat.
Their squad, as a whole, looks short of options, although attacking reinforcements are expected to arrive before the deadline.
However, two players who weren’t part of the squad were Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott.
And now, James Pearce of The Athletic has confirmed that they could leave before the transfer deadline.

Chiesa missed out due to a minor knock, but Elliott simply wasn’t chosen, which was a huge sign that he isn’t a part of Iraola’s plans.
And now, Pearce believes the Liverpool duo could well be on the move in the coming days.

Elliott’s career has nosedived over the past year or so and he doesn’t have a role to play under Iraola.
As for Chiesa, he has struggled with injuries at Anfield and his departure could open up a non-HG spot, which could be beneficial.
Our opinion: If suitable offers come in, the Reds should wish them well and offload them this summer.
