Liverpool are pushing to sign Paris Saint-Germain and France forward Bradley Barcola.

Bradley Barcola will reportedly leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, as a transfer edges closer. Liverpool were believed to be at the front of the queue, as they go in search of a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Reds hold genuine interest in the Frenchman, who is said to have given the green light to join Liverpool. However, the issue has always centred around the proposed fee, with Liverpool deeming PSG’s valuation far too high.
It’s been said that the Ligue 1 outfit want somewhere between £120-£140million to let Barcola leave this summer. Liverpool accept this would be an expensive signing, but they are not willing to go that high, and as such, the two clubs found themselves at an impasse.

But the later it gets in the window, the more likely that situation changes. It’s now being reported by talkSPORT that insiders at PSG expect Barcola to be on the move before the window slams shut next week. And given there have been very few credible links to other clubs, it can be assumed Liverpool are still pushing hard for the French international.
Whether they get him or not will depend on a willingness to compromise on valuation, but perhaps also an ability to raise funds from player sales. Liverpool don’t have many levers available to them, with Cody Gakpo the only real name being linked with an exit.

Gakpo has been courted by Tottenham for a chunk of the summer transfer window, but Spurs appear to have settled on Manchester City duo Omar Marmoush and Savinho. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham go back for the Dutchman, yet Spurs can still help Liverpool’s pursuit of Barcola, given City have emerged as a potential suitor.

The Blues want to replace Marmoush in their forward line, and as per several outlets, believe Gakpo could be a potential option. Liverpool have valued Gakpo at around £75m all summer, but much like their Barcola situation, might be forced to bring that down in order to get the ball rolling.
Andoni Iraola was quizzed about Liverpool’s potential transfer activity after Sunday’s Newcastle United draw, saying: "In terms of what we need, there are certain situations that, for me, are clear, especially on the wing because we do not have enough players able to play in those positions.
“Beyond those positions, I think we have to be open-minded in the market and look at situations that can improve our team.”
