Manchester City have confirmed the departure of Brazilian winger Savinho to Tottenham for a club record £85 million fee.

The 22-year-old joined the Blues from City Football Group-owned club ESTAC Troyes in 2024 and, after two seasons at the Etihad Stadium, has moved to north London to progress his career with regular first-team football on offer under Roberto De Zerbi.
Manchester City have received an upfront payment of £75 million for Savinho, with an additional £10 million in add-ons - £5 million of which is considered easily achievable - agreed with Tottenham.
Savinho’s exit marks the latest piece of shrewd selling business from Hugo Viana and his colleagues at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City continue their rich streak of developing young players and selling them at a profit.
After struggling for minutes under Pep Guardiola last term, Savinho had his heart set on a move to Tottenham, who wanted to sign the forward last summer only for Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano to block the transfer.
Savinho did not travel to Cardiff for City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal a few weeks ago and remained absent for the Blues’ comeback 2-1 win over Bournemouth in their opening 2026/27 Premier League match on Sunday.
What has Savinho said upon leaving Man City for Tottenham?
Speaking to Manchester City's official club website upon his departure, Savinho said, “I’d like to thank everyone at Manchester City. My teammates, the staff, the fans… all of them were brilliant with me. I am a better player and better person having spent time at City.
"As soon as I joined City, I knew what a top club it was. They provide players with so much to help them and make sure they improve. I will always be grateful to them for that.
"I enjoyed my time there immensely, especially winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season - moments I will treasure."
He continued, "I learned a lot while at City and it was an honour to play with my brilliant teammates. I wish City the very best for the future.”
Sporting director Hugo Viana also commented on the deal, as he explained, "Savinho has been a big part of our last two seasons, including the silverware we won last year.
"He arrived in Manchester as a 20-year-old with limited senior experience and leaves as an FA Cup and Carabao Cup winner with lots of Premier League and Champions League games under his belt.
"Everyone at City would like to place on record our thanks to Savinho for all his efforts during his time with us and we wish him the very best on his move to Spurs.”
Where does Savinho’s exit leave Man City’s frontline?
Savinho has, by no means, been a regular starter for Manchester City since his arrival but the Blues have sold much more than they have bought this summer and this is, at the end of the day, another departure.
With Omar Marmoush also expected to join Tottenham on an initial season-long loan in the coming days, City need arguably two attacking signings in the final week of the summer transfer window.
The Blues have agreed personal terms with Palmeiras’ Allan Elias, whom they view as a like-for-like replacement for Savinho, but it is highly likely that they scout the market for another versatile attacker.
With Jeremy Doku sidelined for a few weeks with a calf injury sustained against Arsenal in Wales, Antoine Semenyo started on the left wing against Bournemouth on Sunday as Phil Foden occupied the right wing.

There is great pressure on Hugo Viana and his colleagues to deliver in the final lap of the transfer window, with Manchester City fans having taken to social media to criticise the reactionary and uncharacteristically haphazard approach the club appear have taken to their market dealings at a crucial, sliding doors period of transition
Enzo Maresca was bailed out of jail against Bournemouth courtesy of late goals from Marc Guehi and Josko Gvardiol but the Italian will be pushing his superiors at City to give him the ammunition he is so evidently lacking before the September 1 transfer deadline.
