With the Citizens losing both Savinho and Omar Marmoush to Spurs this summer, Enzo Maresca is keen on landing Gakpo and hampering the Lilywhites’ chances of securing the 27-year-old’s services for the upcoming campaign. City are pushing to get the deal done and beat the North Londoners to the Dutchman’s signature before the transfer window shuts.

However, there is some relief for Spurs after the latest transfer update regarding Cody Gakpo’s impending move away from Anfield. As per Alex Crook (via X), Spurs are still pushing to land the Dutchman this summer, with a move to Manchester City unlikely at this stage. Liverpool would only sell Gakpo if they manage to secure the services of Bradley Barcola from PSG in the coming days. Crook has now also reported that the Reds are edging closer to landing the Frenchman as part of the domino effect that would see Gakpo make the move to N17.
With only a few days remaining before the transfer window shuts, it is important that Spurs land all their preferred transfer targets for this season. Signing Gakpo would go a long way towards ensuring that the Lilywhites are strong contenders for European spots under Roberto de Zerbi.
