Liverpool have seen two bids rejected for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh this summer. The Reds’ opening offer of £50million was turned down, before an improved £60million proposal met the same fate.
Minteh, 22, joined Brighton from Newcastle in 2024 for a fee of £30million. He has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists in 73 appearances for the Seagulls, operating primarily on the right wing.

Liverpool identified Minteh as a target during the closing stages of the transfer window, as they look to add attacking reinforcements following Mohamed Salah’s departure.
Andoni Iraola has publicly stated he wants more options in his forward line.
The Gambia international is currently sidelined with an injury sustained in pre-season, with some reports suggesting he could be out until October. That has not deterred Liverpool, who remain determined to press ahead with a deal.
Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler addressed the interest in Minteh before his side’s Premier League fixture last weekend. He said transfer speculation around his players is “part of our identity” and expected the situation to “evolve” before the window closes on September 1.
Despite that openness to a sale, Liverpool now face a clear obstacle.
According to the Daily Mail, there is significant distance between the two clubs over Minteh’s valuation, with Brighton holding out for a fee in the region of £70million.
That figure sits well above Liverpool’s two rejected offers and leaves the Reds with a decision to make on how far they are prepared to push negotiations.
Personal terms are reportedly not seen as an issue, with Minteh keen on the move, but the fee remains the sticking point.
Liverpool are also negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain over Bradley Barcola and have been linked with PSG teammate Ibrahim Mbaye as an alternative winger option. The club have already added Victor Munoz to their attack this summer.
With the transfer deadline approaching, Liverpool are expected to return with a third bid closer to Brighton’s asking price or turn their attention elsewhere for the attacking reinforcement Iraola has requested.
