Archer and AEG will develop a vertiport at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles, adding a central location to Archer's planned LA air taxi network.
Archer Aviation and AEG have announced plans to develop a vertiport at L.A. LIVE, AEG’s four-million-square-foot sports and entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles. The agreement makes Archer the exclusive air taxi partner of L.A. LIVE and adds the first downtown Los Angeles location to Archer’s planned city-wide air taxi network.
The planned site would allow passengers to travel to and from L.A. LIVE aboard Archer’s Midnight aircraft, which the company says can cover cross-city journeys of 10 to 20 minutes that would otherwise take an hour or more by road. L.A. LIVE is adjacent to Crypto.com Arena — home to the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Kings, and Los Angeles Sparks — and draws millions of visitors annually for concerts, sporting events, and live entertainment. Archer’s previously announced Los Angeles network includes SoFi Stadium, USC, Hollywood Burbank, and Hawthorne Airport as its planned central hub.
AEG and Archer have completed an initial feasibility study covering land use, airspace, power availability, and community impact. The next phase, covering operational approach and guest experience, is under way. Charging infrastructure at the site is planned to use BETA Technologies’ electric aviation chargers as part of the ACES consortium, which aims to establish standardised charging infrastructure for air taxi operations across major metropolitan areas.
The partnership supports Archer’s role as the official air taxi provider of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The downtown LA zone is set to host 18 Olympic and Paralympic sports, and the L.A. LIVE vertiport is intended to serve as a showcase location for urban air mobility during the Games. Archer unveiled its Team USA livery on its Midnight aircraft at L.A. LIVE on August 24.
