Ty Lue wasn’t expecting to answer any questions about LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard when he was getting coffee, but that didn’t stop Cam’ron from trying to get some answers from the Los Angeles Clippers head coach.

The rapper, who hosts It Is What It Is, recently ran into Lue at a coffee shop and immediately started bugging him about the Clippers. He first wondered why the Clippers hadn’t reunited Lue with LeBron James when he was available in free agency before turning his attention to the controversy around Kawhi Leonard.

“Coach, why? When Doc was there, that thing was straight. You should have tried to get LeBron when LeBron was available. That’s what needed to happen.”

“When you was with LeBron? Boom! Mad! What’s going on with the Kawhi scene? Is he getting money under the table? That’s what happened? Yo, Lue!”

Lue wasn’t interested in any of it.

The Clippers coach did not respond or even look at Cam’ron and simply continued walking away as the rapper followed him with questions.

The LeBron question is particularly interesting because the Clippers reportedly made an effort to sign LeBron during free agency this offseason.

According to reports, the Clippers approached the four-time champion and were prepared to make him the largest one-year offer among any team in the league, but LeBron had no interest in simply moving from one side of LA to another.

Eventually, LeBron chose the Philadelphia 76ers, ending his run with the Lakers and adding another exciting chapter to his career in the Eastern Conference.

A reunion with Lue certainly would have created attention given their history together. Lue coached LeBron for parts of four seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, most notably during the franchise’s 2016 championship run after overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the Golden State Warriors in the Finals.

Cam’ron’s second question was much more uncomfortable for Lue to address.

The Clippers have been dealing with uncertainty around Leonard and the Aspiration investigation, which is centered around allegations involving payments and potential salary cap circumvention.

The situation has created uncertainty around Kawhi Leonard’s future in the NBA, as his trade to the Toronto Raptors has been put on hold, and there is still no sign of it going through yet.

Cam’ron’s approach made it very difficult to imagine him getting any serious answers. This wasn’t a press conference or a scheduled interview. This was a coach who was randomly approached in public with a camera and several awkward questions suddenly put in front of him.

Still, the awkwardness and discomfort made the clip entertaining enough to quickly attract plenty of attention.

Ultimately, Cam’ron didn’t get answers to either of his questions. But judging by Lue’s expression and refusal to even engage, he probably wasn’t going to get one no matter how many times he asked.
