Free agent point guard Brandon Williams has reached an agreement with the Warriors on a one-year deal, agents Derek Lafayette and Curtis Lawrence tell Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).
According to Charania, it’s a $2.6MM agreement, which indicates it’s a minimum-salary contract. Because he has four years of NBA service, Williams’ minimum salary this season is $2,625,627.
After making 74 appearances across three seasons for Portland and Dallas from 2021-25, Williams emerged as a reliable role player for the Mavericks last season, with starting point guard Kyrie Irving out due to a torn ACL and presumed replacement D’Angelo Russell falling out of Jason Kidd‘s regular rotation.
In 66 regular season games (15 starts), Williams averaged 13.0 points, 3.9 assists, and 2.9 rebounds in 22.2 minutes per night. While the 26-year-old has never been much of an outside threat and made just 36-of-155 three-pointers (23.2%) last season, he was an effective scorer from inside the arc, knocking down 55.2% of his two-point tries and making 79.3% of his free throws.
Previously linked to Golden State by Marc Stein of The Stein Line and Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Williams was one of the few players on our list of this summer’s top 50 free agents who remained unsigned. He came in at No. 49.
