The New England Patriots are saving one of their boldest uniform combinations for one of their biggest games of the 2026 season.
New England will bring back its “Nor’easter” Rivalries uniform for its Week 13 home matchup against the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium.
ESPN’s Mike Reiss first shared the uniform decision Tuesday, citing information from the Patriots Pro Shop. The NFL later included New England’s Dec. 6 meeting with Buffalo in its complete Nike x NFL Rivalries schedule.
The Patriots debuted the storm-inspired alternate against the New York Jets last season. Its next appearance will come against a Buffalo team that has become New England’s most meaningful divisional rival.
Patriots Bringing Back ‘Nor’easter’ Look
The uniform features a Storm Blue jersey, white pants and a matte white helmet. New England’s traditional Flying Elvis logo appears on the helmet in a modified silver-trimmed design that removes the usual red accents. The jersey uses white shoulder stripes, italicized white numbers and navy drop shadows.
One of the uniform’s most notable details appears around the neckline, where six red stars represent the six New England states. The Patriots also introduced a nautical “NE” logo for the uniform’s sleeves. That emblem helps connect the design to the region’s coastline and the severe winter storms that inspired its name.
New England unveiled the uniform in 2025 as part of the first year of the NFL and Nike’s Rivalries program. The initiative originally featured teams from the AFC East and NFC West. Each participating team wears its Rivalries uniform for a home game against a divisional opponent. The uniforms remain in the team’s rotation for three years after their debut.
The NFL expanded the program to the AFC South and NFC North for 2026. The Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans all revealed new designs Tuesday.
Bills Matchup Gives Uniform Added Meaning
The Patriots wore the Nor’easter uniform against the Jets during their Week 11 victory last season. New England extended its winning streak to eight games with that result and improved to 9-2.
The Bills represent a different level of challenge. Buffalo controlled the AFC East for five consecutive seasons before New England reclaimed the division crown in 2025. The Patriots finished 14-3 and reached Super Bowl LX during Mike Vrabel’s first season as head coach.
Their rivalry with Buffalo played a significant role in that turnaround. New England earned a statement road victory over the Bills early in the season but squandered a 21-point lead in the rematch at Gillette Stadium. Buffalo rallied for a 35-31 win, snapping the Patriots’ 10-game winning streak and temporarily delaying their opportunity to clinch the division.
That recent history should give the Week 13 meeting more significance than a typical alternate-uniform game. It also could have an impact on another AFC East race. The Patriots and Bills enter 2026 as the leading contenders for the division, with New England attempting to prove last season’s run was the start of something sustainable.

Patriots Will Appear In Two Rivalries Games
New England will wear its own Rivalries uniform only once, but the Patriots are scheduled to appear in a second Rivalries game later in the season.
The New York Jets will wear their special uniform when they host the Patriots in Week 16.
Other returning AFC East designs also will appear throughout the schedule. Buffalo will wear its all-white “Cold Front” uniform against the Miami Dolphins in Week 11, while Miami will use its Rivalries look against Buffalo in Week 17.
The Patriots, however, selected the most consequential opponent available for the Nor’easter’s 2026 return.
New England’s special uniform now will be attached to a December showdown that could help determine which team controls the AFC East.
