Chelsea close to accepting Aston Villa’s £60m Nicolas Jackson bid

Chelsea are reportedly close to accepting an Aston Villa offer worth around £60million, including bonuses, for Nicolas Jackson.

Villa have submitted a formal proposal for the Senegal international as Unai Emery attempts to strengthen his attacking options.

Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna reports that Chelsea are now on the verge of accepting the package, although an agreement has not yet been confirmed.

Nicolas Jackson Aston Villa bid moves towards Chelsea agreement

The development represents a significant step forward after ReadChelsea previously reported that Chelsea were expecting an Aston Villa bid for Jackson.

Sky Sports previously reported that Chelsea valued Jackson at approximately £65million and wanted a permanent transfer rather than another loan.

Villa’s proposal comes in below that initial valuation, but the reported £60m package includes bonuses that could take the overall deal closer to Chelsea’s expectations.

The split between the guaranteed fee and additional payments has not been reported.

Jackson already knows Emery from their time together at Villarreal, giving Villa an existing connection as they attempt to complete the transfer.

His potential move also comes while uncertainty continues over Ollie Watkins, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia.

Chelsea sale would leave Atletico Madrid behind

Aston Villa are not the only club to have pursued Jackson this summer.

ReadChelsea reported that Jackson had given encouragement to Atletico Madrid, but the Spanish club favoured a loan while Chelsea wanted a permanent sale.

Villa’s formal offer therefore gives Chelsea the type of deal Atletico had been unable to provide.

Jackson was absent from Chelsea’s matchday squad for Monday’s victory over Fulham, with João Pedro leading Xabi Alonso’s attack and scoring inside the opening minute.

A £60m departure would represent one of Chelsea’s biggest outgoing transfers of the summer.

However, the deal has not yet been formally accepted, and any move would still depend on an agreement between the clubs and Jackson’s personal terms.
